JOURNEY intensive

A 6-day full board and lodging experiential retreat, modelled on the Journey Discipleship Course, which allows participants to encounter God around identity and experience intimacy with Him. The Journey Intensive is designed to give people a deeper experience of God in community where they need it the most.

Who’s it for?

The Journey Intensive is open to anyone who seeks a deeper relationship with God. It is for people who feel stuck in their relationship with God, with others, and with how they see themselves.

The ideal way to access an Intensive is through attending a Journey Discipleship Course (JDC). However, we understand that some people do not have access to a JDC in their area; have missed the intake date; or were not in a place where they were ready to attend a JDC.

The Intensive does not replace a JDC - they are distinctly different experiences.

An individual's readiness for the Intensive is something that will be decided in conversation with a Journey Intensive team member following receipt of an Intensive application form.

The Intensive is also open to those in pastoral ministry, pastoral counselling, and lay leadership who wish to understand and explore the work of Journey for their own communities.

What’s involved?

Each day, we will spend time in worship, teachings, personal stories, and confidential gender-specific small groups for honest sharing and prayer.

We will explore several topics, such as:

  • Our need for love and affirmation

  • Confession

  • Being empowered by the Holy Spirit

  • Understanding addiction

  • Security in our identity

  • Understanding abuse

  • Forgiveness

  • Living as healthy men and women

  • The importance of community in our journey with God

  • Prayer ministry

Team training:

Attending an Intensive at least once is a compulsory component of equipping a person to be part of a local Journey team.

For those who have signed up to the Intensive with a view to be trained as a team member, there will be a compulsory training day after the Intensive.
